KDE and GNOME to Co-locate Flagship Conferences on Gran Canaria in 2009

The KDE e.V. and GNOME Foundation today announced that they will hold their yearly conferences, Akademy and GUADEC in 2009 in Gran Canaria. The conferences will be separate events, but co-located and hosted by the same organizers, the Cabildo of Gran Canaria and its Secretary of Tourism, Technological Innovation and Foreign Trade. KDE and Wikimedia Collaborate

KDE e.V. and Wikimedia Germany have opened a shared office in Frankfurt, Germany. As two organizations that share similar goals and organizational challenges, they hope that working out of the same space will strengthen and expand their links to the Free Culture community, as well as allowing them to share resources, experience and infrastructure. OSN Online Social Network supports KDE e.V.

OSN Online Social Network GmbH has joined the ranks of KDE e.V.'s Supporting Members. The KDE e.V. uses these financial contributions for example for supporting developer meetings which are a vital part of KDE's community-building and -binding effort. Changes in the board of the KDE e.V.

After serving in the board for five years Eva Brucherseifer decided to focus on other endeavors. At the General Assembly 2007 held in Glasgow during aKademy Klaas Freitag was elected as her successor. The other members of the board are Aaron Seigo who takes over the role of president from Eva, Cornelius Schumacher who remains Vice President and Treasurer, Adriaan de Groot as second Vice President and Sebastian Kügler as additional board member. KDAB becomes Patron of KDE

The KDE e.V. and KDAB are happy to announce continued collaboration on the Free Desktop by KDAB being the latest new Patron of KDE. KDAB is known for its high-quality software services. KDAB explains "KDE and KDAB have a very strong relationship that dates back to the beginning of the KDE project, with the KDAB CEO, Kalle Dalheimer, being one of the founders of the KDE project. Since then, KDAB has supported KDE consistently both with code and funding, especially for the past aKademies. We believe that a strong KDE community is good for all of us, and thus want to provide KDE e.V. with a stable and plannable stream of funding." Read More
