Framework supports free open-source software and becomes KDE's latest patron!

Framework manufactures and sells modular computers that are easy to maintain, repair and upgrade. By sponsoring FLOSS projects like KDE, Framework further confirms their commitment to to putting users in control of their machines.

"KDE is extremely popular in the Framework community, and we're excited to help support KDE's efforts to make the best possible Linux desktop." says Nirav Patel, Founder of Framework.

"I am excited to see Framework become a KDE Patron," says Aleix Pol, President of KDE e.V.. "It's a good continuation to our collaboration with different hardware manufacturers and distributors to ensure we can deliver systems to our users with an experience up to our expectations. Furthermore, Framework’s commitment to repairability strongly aligns with our values and is vital for building a more sustainable industry."

Framework joins KDE e.V.'s other patrons: Blue Systems, Canonical, g10 Code, Google, Kubuntu Focus, Mbition, Rocky Linux, Slimbook, SUSE, Techpaladin, The Qt Company and TUXEDO Computers, who generously support FOSS and KDE's development through KDE e.V.

Rocky Linux becomes KDE's newest Patron

Rocky Linux throws its support behind KDE,
becoming our latest patron.

Rocky Linux is a stable, community-driven, and production-ready Linux
distribution designed to be fully compatible with Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
Rocky Linux powers clouds, supercomputers, servers, and workstations around
the world.

"Sustainable Open Source depends on great open-source communities supporting
each other" said Brian Clemens, Co-founder and Vice President of the Rocky
Enterprise Software Foundation. "We do our best to support our upstreams, and
backing KDE was an easy choice for us given the popularity of the Rocky Linux
KDE spin."

"As a user-first community, KDE creates solutions to address real-world needs"
said Aleix Pol, President of KDE e.V.. "We are excited to welcome Rocky Linux
as a KDE Patron and see KDE's software shine on Rocky Linux,
their enterprise-ready operating system."

Rocky Linux joins KDE e.V.'s other patrons: Blue Systems, Canonical, g10 Code,

The UN Open Source Principles are comprised of eight guidelines and provide a framework to guide the use, development and sharing of open source software across the United Nations. This is part of the UN's Open Source United (OSU) initiative, which aims to coordinate and increase open source efforts across the United Nations system.

According to OSU:

"Across the UN, teams are building powerful digital tools, but much of this work is isolated. Open Source United breaks these silos, encourages collaboration, and makes innovation easier to share and reuse. By working together, we deliver solutions that are more transparent, sustainable, and cost-effective."

Alongside another 119 FLOSS organisations, KDE will support the effort to connect UN teams and their partners, as well as the global community, encouraging them to share, discover and reuse open-source solutions in their work to carry out the UN’s mission worldwide.
